After Every Storm, There are Rainbows
Simply put, 2016 was HARD. Not to say it was a bad year, but for a lot of us it was a year of growth, self-discovery, and excitement, with an ample dash of disappointment and a sprinkle or two of challenge.
There were so many moments from 2016 that I won't forget. My daughter taking her first steps is one of those moments. We gained a new family member this year too as we celebrated the marriage of my brother and his beautiful bride.
There were also plenty of those super tough moments. Moments that left me rocked to the core.
The year flip flopped like this almost monthly. One minute I’m at the top of the roller coaster in amazement of the view, and the next moment I’m plunging down faster than I can catch my breath. That's a good way to put it. 2016 was a friggin’ roller coaster. Total gut check.
Looking back though, it felt like a year that I needed. For the first time in a long time, I felt raw, open to the world. And for the first time in a very long time, when I felt the universe push, I wanted to push back even harder. And that to me, gleams remarkable success.
I watched others around me do the same. I watched friends take huge, scary strides towards new career opportunities. I watched families heal old wounds. I watched people around me finally take control of their lives, making incredible, once in a lifetime, changes.
So what’s my takeaway from 2016?
After every storm, there's a rainbow.
Will you look for rainbows with me? Just beyond the clouds is the sun. Just beyond trees is a view. And right after a huge storm, there are rainbows. Search for them. Find them. Take pictures of them. Remember these moments and live in them.
Oh, and have some fun will ya? ;)
